The horsemeat scandal has shone a light on the cosequences of our convoluted supply chains in the food industry. No such problems here, our beef animals graze our farm from birth and are then taken by me to a local abattoir, brought back the following day and cut up after hanging by our butcher. He also makes from scratch all our burgers, sausages and all other meat products. We can tell you where every single ingredient comes from.
Don't forget our Lambing Day on the 30th, come and see the lambs and calves, dress warmly and bring your wellies. Our new Tearoom will be open so do pop in to sample it.

Manor Organic Farm in Long Whatton, Leicestershire, is a family farm, farmed by Graeme and Vivienne Matravers The farm is home to a magnificent herd of Longhorn cows and a flock of pedigree Lleyn sheep. There are also chickens, turkeys and some cereal crops. We must not forget the two goats, Linda and Sadie and Snuggums the donkey.
All the meat is sold through the farm shop and the on site bakery turns some of our wheat, rye and spelt into freshly baked bread, Our artisan baker and master butcher are there to provide you with a friendly and helpful shop.
We have been farming organically since 1989 and believe that organic farming is a positive philosophy, and is more than just avoiding the use of artificial chemicals and fertilisers. It is an approach to farming which views the farm as a whole system in harmony with the natural surroundings and nature itself. The farm is accredited by the Soil Association as organic.
Healthy soil, healthy food, healthy people...
We are all passionate about caring for our animals and the farm environment. We have plenty of space to winter the animals indoors and plenty of organic grass for them during the rest of the year. The farm is part of a Higher level environmetal stewardship scheme which includes restoring wildflower meadows and other traditional grasslands as well as hedgerow and field margin management.
Since arriving here in 1995 we have planted over 1800 tress and restored 2 miles of hedgerow.
Around the farm local wildflowers, grown specifically to attract beneficial insects such as lacewings, hoverflies and ladybirds flourish in maintained hedgerows. An integrated rotation means crops can be grown specifically for the farm's needs. Graeme and Vivienne's approach goes far beyond the day-to-day workings of Manor Farm.
Farm Shop
Our farm shop offers a wide range of organic produce, including organic meat, organic vegetables, organic poultry and organic bread from our own bakery. The farm beef comes from its stock of a local rare breed of cattle, the Longhorn, and the lamb is from its pedigree herd of Lleyn sheep. And for Christmas we have our own organic turkeys reared on the farm
We make an award winning range of sausages and burgers and cure our own bacon.
It is well worth a visit, with plenty of parking, friendly, knowledgable staff and the two goats, donkey, rabbits and a host of other animals to feed and see.
